Caring for Creation

Scholtz van der Walt Personal Worship, Uncategorized

We, as the church, have a responsibility to be at the forefront of caring for creation. God commissioned us to this job…

Genesis 1v28: God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.’ (NIVUK)

Genesis 2v15: The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. (NIVUK)

With COP26 coming to Glasgow it is a prime opportunity for us to turn our minds to what it means to care for our planet in light of God’s love. Not only this, but also how things like Climate Change affect people in different parts of the world even as you are reading this.

Have a listen of our “For God so loved the world” preaching series where we talk about God, the world and the church in the light of climate change and caring for creation.

Tearfund has produced a really helpful resource to help us think through climate change.

Christian Aid UK also have some great events you can join with if you want to get involved. Simply checkout their website and sign-up.

Our young people used a Christian Aid resource to help them think through climate change and to pray for COP26 by making origami prayer boats to be added to the COP26 “prayer fleet”. Check out this post on our Instagram page.
