The leaders and members of Auldhouse Community Church are delighted to announce that Dr Stuart Blythe is joining us in August of this year as our new pastor. We are thrilled that Stuart feels called back to his roots and to work with us to spread the love and joy of the gospels to our community.
Stuart and his wife Susanne are returning to Scotland from Canada; Stuart has served for seven years as a senior member there on the faculty of Acadia Divinity College where he occupies the John Gladstone Chair of Preaching and Worship. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Stuart has been serving in a leadership capacity as the Associate Dean responsible for faculty and the Dean of the Sarah Daley Nickerson Chapel.
Between 1989 and 2005, he served two churches in Glasgow: Minister of Springburn Baptist Church (1989-1994), Youth Minister of Kirkintilloch Baptist Church (1994-2000), and Team Leader/Senior Minister of Kirkintilloch Baptist Church (2000-2005). From 1994 to 2004, he was also an occasional lecturer at the Scottish Baptist College.
Prior to moving to Canada, he was invited by the Scottish Baptist College to full-time appointments as Lecturer in 2005 and as Senior Lecturer in 2008 and was the Acting Principal in 2013-2014. Between 2014 and 2017, Stuart held the position of Rector of the International Baptist Theological Study Centre Amsterdam.
Stuart has a wealth of pastoral and academic experience, and we are really looking forward to welcoming him and Susanne into our fellowship later this year. They have two adult children: Stephen and Kim-Michal, both living in Glasgow. They will also be bringing with them from Canada their much loved dog Sitka.
