Town Hall Meeting 24 June 7.30pm “51 at 61"

As a congregation, one of our desires is to create a space where people can gather to come to know and grow in faith in Jesus.

During our regular Sunday mornings, at least in the Winter months, our building is pretty full when we are all gathered together. This means that we cannot accommodate more people. This capacity challenge affects not only our main hall but also the rooms used by an increasing number of children.

As an experiment, beginning in September, we plan to hire Tinto Primary School’s main hall for our all-together gathering while retaining our own building for our Sunday Kids’ Church activities. We see this as two buildings on one site.

In this way, we want to see whether increasing our physical capacity allows us to increase our congregational numbers and allow us to offer more space at our table.

This will be an experiment that we will reflect on as it happens, with stop points after a few months if we do not think it is working or worth persevering with.

This is a wine-skin moment of stretch, which means a change from what is familiar and comfortable.

Many conversations will need to be held with different groups as to what it means and what it will look like. There are many questions some we have thought about and others we have not.

Our goal will be to manage that well, but success will require understanding, humour, and a desire to try and make it work for the period in which we try it.

We raised this in some discussion at our AGM, but we want to have this meeting to talk about it further, sharing the why and the how, and seeking help to make it happen.

Wednesday 24th June 7.30 pm.

All those who attend the congregation are invited and welcome to attend this meeting.
