
Sanctuary Course: “Wednesday Nights at 51"

On the 18th February we are starting the Sanctuary Course: “Wednesday Nights at 51”
Here is how the information describes the course:
“The Sanctuary Course is a resource designed to engage communities of faith in vital conversations about mental health and mental health challenges. Come and learn about important topics such as stigma, recovery, companionship, and self-care. This course requires no prior mental health training or expertise; it is for anyone interested in starting the faith and mental health conversation.”
It will run for eight weeks on Wednesday night, between 7.30 and 9.00pm in our Church Cafe area at 51 Nether Auldhouse Road.
It will cover the following topics:
Session 1: Mental Health
Session 2: Mental Illnesses
Session 3: Stigma
Session 4: Recovery
Session 5: Companionship
Session 6: Caregiving
Session 7: Self-Care
Session 8: Reflection
Each topic will be explored from a psychological, social, and biblical/theological perspective.
There is some prior reading for each session from a course book, available in printed, electronic, or audio format.
Evenings will involve: watching a video, discussion, and reflection.
